Description of project
A two hour programme will be presented on Bristol ’s local community radio station, BCfm, by students who belong to Bristol University’s Jewish and Islamic Societies. As well as publicising the collection of groceries that afternoon for Mitzvah Day Shopping, to be distributed to homeless refugees in Bristol, the programme will include interviews that explain the Jewish and Muslim approaches to charitable giving and volunteering, explaining that the Hebrew for “good deed” (mitzvah) is matched in Arabic by the term “hassana”.

Partner Organisation
Bristol Jewish Community comes together to celebrate Mitzvah Day as a cross-community event. We have representatives from both the Progressive and Orthodox synagogues as well as the University JSoc and Chaplaincy and Davar, the local Jewish cultural institute. Bristol is blessed with very good inter-faith relations and we take pride in our local Muslim/Jewish internet radio station, Radio Salaam Shalom, which will cover our Mitzvah Day activities.
