4th Borehamwood Guides are very proud to be representing Girlguiding UK by joining the Youth contingent of the AJEX Parade for the third time this year. This is especially important to us as it is our Centenary year this year. We will have Guides (10-14) & Ranger Guides (14-18), 2 Assistant Guide Leaders and 2 of our male Adult Members on Parade.
4th Borehamwood Guides are a Guide Company sponsored by Borehamwood & Elstree United Synagogue. We are part of Girlguiding UK Elstree & Borehamwood District and meet at the Gilah Hall, Borehamwood Shul on a Monday evening between 7 & 8.30pm in termtime. All Adult Leaders & Members over 16 have undergone a CRB check.
Our young members are aged between 10 & 14 and complete an exciting & varied programmed that encourages them to have fun, help other people and go on adventures in a safe environment. The Guides work on lots of Challenges & Badges that can eventually lead to the sought after Baden Powell Trefoil award.
As this is Girlguiding's Centenary year, we are planning a trip for both the Guides & the Senior Section to Switzerland during the summer 2010 half term as our special Centenary camp.
Our Senior Section are aged 14-25 & work as Young Leaders & Guide Leaders with the Girlguiding Units at the shul, as well as following their own innovative "Look Wider" programme which complements the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme (Volunteering with a Rainbow, Brownie or Guide unit counts towards your Service Component of the D of E Award at all levels).
The Chief Guide's Challenge is open to all Senior Section members. Young Leaders aged 14-16 work for their own Qualification.
Our 16+ Seniors can combine their Gold Award with the prestigious Queen's Guide Award, the highest Award that can be earned by a Guide aged under 18. They can also undertake the Adult Leader Qualification and gain their Warrant on their 18th birthday.
