The Hampstead and Highgate Express have teamed up with Mitzvah Day this year for the ‘Ham and High Challenge’.
We’re challenging schools and community groups across the Ham and High area to make sure that every elderly care home in the area receives a visit.
Elderly residents of care homes often find afternoons long and slow. This is particularly true in the winter. The Ham and High Challenge, therefore, is to find someone with a guitar, bring a song sheet (available from the Mitzvah Day office), and bring some laughter and music to a local home. Additionally, participants can chat, serve tea, play cards and board games, and generally bring some sunshine into the home for an hour or two. Who knows what you might learn?

In the week of Mitzvah Day, November 20th, we all have the opportunity to give our most precious possession, our time, to make a real difference.
