Written by Michelle Barnet Tuesday, 18 November 2008 21:37Another great MITZVA DAY success! – Yesterday – through the ‘shopping project’ - over 200 volunteers were responsible for encouraging over 1000 shoppers around North West London to donate over a tonne of food to worthy causes. GIFT organized collection points at over 20 shops, including Tescos Brent Cross, Kosher Paradise, Moshes, Mendys, B Koshers, Kays, Just Kosher in Borehamwood, Yarden, and Steves in Stanmore. GIFT will be distributing the food collected to local families in need, Jewish Women’s Aid; the asylum seekers-drop–in project and a number of Homeless Shelters around London, including Crisis over Christmas. Thank you to MItzva Day UK for supporting and inspiring GIFT to run this project and a very special thank you to all our remarkable volunteers who ‘manned’ the stalls despite the rain and wind; who shlepped tables and the many boxes of food; to those who organized staorage of the food and to those who have and will be distributing the food to the recipients. A great result!
